Professional Experience
Sam completed a Bachelor of Rural Science at the University of New England (UNE), Armidale, in 2007. Sam graduated with first class honours, focusing on genomic selection in Beef Cattle. He then pursued a career in agribusiness banking for Westpac Banking Corporation before returning to UNE to undertake a PhD in Quantitative genetics. As a PhD candidate with the Sheep CRC, Sam is examining the analysis and use of genomic data in the genetic evaluation of livestock. To date, Sam has been investigating the impact of different patterns of genetic variation on the accuracy of genomic selection.
