Professional Experience
Hans was born in Switzerland and moved to Canada with his family in his late teens. After dairy farming for a number of years, he completed his bachelor and master degrees at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. His M.Sc. thesis focused on dairy cattle genomics. He then moved to Edinburgh, UK to complete his Ph.D. at the Roslin Institute, while being matriculated at Wageningen University, NLD. Hans's Ph.D. thesis investigated the accuracy of genomic prediction methods. After graduating in late 2009, he has now moved down-under to work on genomic prediction in sheep at the Department of Primary Industries, Victoria.
