1987 - 2000: Chairman of INTERBULL Steering Committee from its inauguration.
1992 - 2000: Vice-President of ICAR.
1998: Chairman of organising committee for ICAR conference in New Zealand.
1998: McMeekan Award for outstanding contribution to NZ animal production and leadership in the development of technologies underpinning current and future dairy cattle improvement.
2000: INTERBULL award in recognition of outstanding contribution to the development of international genetic evaluations of cattle. Awarded in May 2000 following completion of 13 years as Chairman of INTERBULL Steering Committee.
2002: Massey University 75th Anniversary Medal for contributions to agriculture in NZ.
2009: ICAR Presidents Award for outstanding contributions to ICAR & its objectives
