In 2001 she took on the challenge of moving far from home and was employed by New Zealand breeding company Livestock Improvement (LIC) until 2008. At LIC Jennie worked on breeding scheme design, methods to control inbreeding in dairy cows and implementation of genomic selection.
In 2008 Jennie arrived in Melbourne and is now employed by DPI as a senior scientist. Her main areas of interest continue to be breeding scheme design, genomic selection and development of dairy selection indexes.
