Professional Experience
Professor Gibson has developed and led pure and applied research projects and programs across a broad spectrum of livestock genetics and agriculture and environmental systems in Australia, North America, Europe and Africa. He started his career in livestock genetics at the Animal Breeding Research Organisation (later the Roslin Institute) in Edinburgh, with subsequent appointments as Professor of Swine Genetics at the University of Guelph, Program Leader Genetics and Genomics at the International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, and is currently Director of the Centre for Genetic Analysis and Applications at the University of New England.
Professor Gibson has published 420 scientific and technical publications. He has a strong interest and track record in the application of innovation in the private and public sectors, in the developed and the developing world. In recent years he has developed global research and intervention strategies for a range of international development and intergovernmental agencies and institutions.
